Since I took almost two weeks of blogging, because I needed a short break, I missed out on an Adventure Friday post. This is one that I simply have to record, because it was for Rebecca's birthday. She asked for the Adventure Friday nearest her birthday to go to a Trampoline Park, so I did some sleuthing and researched our options. We chose Urban Air and got the deluxe pass so that they could do the rock climbing, rope obstacle course and the mini zip line as well as the trampolines.
We visited the location in Lakeland, after a morning of doctor's appointments. And the kids had such a blast, they weren't that busy on a Friday afternoon so rather than staying 2 hours they stayed 3.5 hours. The twins favorite activity was the warrior obstacle course with a ball pit underneath. They climbed on everything they could reach and frequently jumped off of different equipment just to land laughing in the ball pit. They especially liked getting any of the rest of us to jump in with them. When they weren't in there they were climbing and running through a maze of tunnels and corridors with me trailing behind them.
Katherine's favorite part of the park was an enclosed area with triangular shaped trampolines around a moving bar. You had to jump over the bar as it came around or you would be wiped out and have to come out. This continued until there was only one person left standing. Kate was thin enough that she could also lay down on the trampoline and the bar go over her without hitting her. She played that game with Rebecca and Ruth so many times that I lost count.
Rebecca enjoyed all the trampolines best. She liked running and jumping and flipping on them. She also enjoyed playing dodge ball on the trampolines. Gary did that with the older kids while I supervised the little boys, and it was one of his favorite parts too. There were trampolines with lots of air underneath that they could get real air on, and another section with trampolines in rows, and row after row. She was delighted with the entire experience.
The zip line was Ruth's favorite part of the day. She rode it several times. It was a short course snaking down and around the rock climbing station, and ending back nearly where it started. It rocketed, swinging her out on the turns and she was exhilarated. Another part of the trampoline park that Ruth and Rebecca did a few times was the rope obstacle course. Also up off the ground, you were snapped into a harness and clipped to a line running above the course, and then you worked your way around it and back to the starting point. Ruth of course turned it into a race to see who could get back the quickest without slipping.
Britt's favorite by far was the battle beam. He would challenge his daddy or another kid to a bout and they would each grab a foam stick and swing at each other while they attempted to stay on a narrow balance beam. The winner was the one who managed to stay on the longest while the other individual fell into a foam pit. I had more fun watching him and Gary than I would have thought possible. It was Gary's other favorite part of the park.
We had a great time, and all the kids would love to go again, however as it is a bit expensive to take 8 people visits will be sparing. If you'd like to make a trip the address to the Lakeland Urban Air Trampoline Park is 3800 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland, Florida. IT is located in the Lakeland Square Mall. There hours are mostly afternoons and evenings, but they also open a few days in the morning, for more details check out their website.
