Britt,
Happy 15th birthday, what a momentous occasion. You now have your driver's permit and will be learning to drive with me. A family friend told you today, that the sidewalks are no longer safe. You are 5 foot 9 now, you grew over 5 inches this year, most of which was over the summer. Yet you still kissed me goodnight, I treasure that expecting it to stop at any time.
You have become more and more of a leader over the last year, not only among your siblings, but among your friends at Church. I don't know that you realize how much they look to you in the games you all play together, or the way you carry yourself. You never seem to let it get to your head, and you make sure that even the littlest among your entourage like Adley gets to play a part. The way you strive to include others and never see yourself as too old to be seen with the little kids warms my heart. Memaw and Mister have had you on your own a few times lately and have remarked that you are quick to be helpful and genuinely a pleasure to be around. You are also a huge help with your little brothers, and have taken on the responsibility of feeding and taking care of the boys first thing in the morning. Furthermore, you did it without me having to ask you. You have no idea how much it pleases us to hear and see that you are growing into a wonderful young man. It is our greatest desire that you be a godly man, and you show that every day.
You still love your video games and sword fights. There is still some little boy to you after all. Your weekly conversations with Christopher center around matching up various Nintendo and movie characters against one another. You love Lord of the Rings and are shaping up to be a top notch geek, which makes us smile.
School continues to be a challenge as the subjects get more difficult. You are barely treading water with Biology and Algebra I, but you do give it all you have, which is all I can ask. You've become a whiz at history and political science asking questions constantly and digging into the answers on your own time. You have also become an excellent writer, so long as you have someone to help you with proofing your final drafts. You've come such a long way in a year that it's astounding. You took driver's ed online this year and did very well, and now we are ready to begin lessons one on one in the truck. You are both excited and a little nervous, a healthy combination. But, you have an end goal in mind, as you very much desire to get your first job and start earning some money.
You continue to amaze us son, with both your good-hearted outlook and thoughtfulness. You continue to ask the hard questions and grabble with life with both hands. You want to be more Christlike and seek to be a better person, even when your sisters treat you poorly. There are so many things to be thankful for when we look at you, and we thank God that we get to be your parents.
Your Daddy and I love you, so very much,
Love,
Momma
